★Well here comes June, and sure enough first part of the month we’ll have a few cool memories of May, but that’s going to be about it before we start hitting the century mark a bunch. Any of yall that have four-legged Family members in and out of the house are probably going to notice a big uptick in fleas, just like your dogs and cats have been trying to show you for a little while when they go to scratching and nipping at their hineys. Well we just can’t have that, now can we? Sure enough there’s going to be one or two jump on you before it’s over with!

So why not let’s put a stop to anything like that and get squared away with some good pet shampoos, first class flea treatments, and sprays, have a look to the left of what you’re reading now, no, go on and look. That’s just a sample of what we have in the store right now. We have plenty of other items to suit nearly any animal friend you’re likely to have, pretty much anything but a woolly mammoth, and if you’ve got one of those, call us, or bring him in and we’ll see what we can do!

★Hard to believe that it’s time to start talking about show stuff again, but it really is for some of us, now that you think about it, here with the State Fair coming in September and October as well as Heart of Texas for sheep and goats. We want y’all to make a great showing and hedge your bets for some of those blue ribbons. You need the pro stuff, and we’ve got it.

We’ve been at this forever, and some of us participate ourselves, so we know just what to put on the shelf for you to look through, whips, shampoos, conditioners, sprays, clipper kits, the list goes on and on and on. Everybody that’s not going to Dallas or Heart of Texas around July and August will be getting ready for county shows in Fort Worth, San Angelo, Austin and of course San Antonio. When you come into see us, be sure to ask for a good sprayer or two for hosing down your project for a cool finish on a hot afternoon, they’ll thank you!

★What could be better than a cool fresh drink of water on these hot days that are sure coming? Whether you’re rancher with a big operation, or somebody that just has 10 big acres and enjoys the lifestyle, you just have to stay watered. Have a look about midway down this page to see what we have every day the week when it comes to meeting this very vital need.

We know the best floats, float valves, and water troughs available, just right for nearly any situation. We even keep plenty of rain gauges just so everybody can stay hopeful. But water won’t do it all, there’s got to be some good nutrition for livestock and pets. We’ve just got in a nice new line up of dog foods from Victor, not to mention well balanced salt and mineral blocks and molasses tubs. Our livestock feeds are also first class, ask your neighbors, they’ll sure to tell you.

★But what about those critters, and plants too, that we don’t want to have anything to do with? The first part of this month you’ll want to put out bay land and barricade, and we’re stocked up, believe me. You’re probably going to have some trouble with ants and scorpions, so grab some Martin’s Surrender, and for the scorpions, Demon WP, the best you can get. There’s also Bifin IT and Turf Ranger for a broad-spectrum approach, so we keep these in quantity, too.

If we’ve had any rain here in May, first part of June is going to call for doing a lot of brush control before the heat gets too crazy. Best to get it all done as quick as you can, and we’ve got just the dose to take care of it with Remedy, Sendero or a generic Tryclopyr, a lot easier than having to come in and shop for hatchets, chainsaws, and prybar’s to deal with it down the line.

Those of you that have larger properties and are in need of a sprayer for your ATVs, we have a great to 25 gallon sprayer from K&K Vet, the ASR57. This model is durable, efficient and priced lower then some higher end brand models. We work every day to find products like this to offer to you as an alternative, mainly from our own experience in working with the land we love, and protecting the dollar we work so hard for.

★Pond and tank maintenance is also of great interest in the first part of June. Whether you have stock tanks that you’re trying to maintain with wildlife friendly treatments, to keep algae from going crazy and maintain general water quality, or whether you have a small decorative pond that you want to keep looking pretty and happy for your goldfish, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how well AquaBan liquid algaecide and pond cleaner will work to keep pond and tank bottoms clear and water fresh. We also recommend a little blue dye by the same company to provide additional mitigation against algae growth.

★Our horseman and horsewomen will also find our warehouse well stocked with plenty of seasonally relevant pelleted feeds, sweet feeds, and coastal hay to get you from spring to summer. We also have some wonderful First Companion brand electrolyte products that are great for meeting additional nutritional needs that come with summer heat, extra work, and extra recreational activity. Those of you that have been in our stores even once, y’all know we keep plenty of tack for work and play as well, lots of reins, saddle blankets, head stalls, bits, lead ropes, saddle pads and blankets, and of course, plenty of durable Little Giant / Miller water buckets that’ll last a million years and really take a beating.

★If you’re like the rest of us, you going to a lot of trouble to try to stay comfortable as the heat starts to build and cool breezy afternoons become more and more a memory. Why not stay ahead of the game and beat the heat early, buy filling in all those cracks and crevices that let out the cool? We’ve got plenty of items to address these matters, first quality caulk with a good duty cycle of several years tops the list. And for maintaining efficiency on large surfaces, complete repainting or touch up painting can help a great deal too, and maintain a pleasing look to your home and outbuildings. No need to shop for these items at a big box store where folks won’t understand the priorities of South Texans nearly as well as your neighbors right here in the store.
