★Now we’re into July, and right off the bat we’ve got the 4th, firesworks at night, and lots of family fun, that is, unless we get a big heat wave! Well, we made it through June, and after hammering away at the worst of the spring pests that decided to stick around after May, it may get plumb too hot even for the flies, but not for the fleas! No matter what your pest problem is, whether it’s indoors outdoors, on your pets or on the livestock, come and see us first for the heavy artillery to see to it that you don’t have to deal with the heat and the uninvited guests to Fourth of July barbecue, or bother you on any of those nice early evenings around dark 30 that are so rewarding after a hard days dealing with the heat.
★Is it a little too early to start talking about show stuff? Absolutely not. Everybody that’s not going to Dallas or Heart of Texas this month and August will be getting ready for county shows in Fort Worth, San Angelo, Austin and San Antonio, not to mention the State Fair coming in September and October as well as Heart of Texas for sheep and goats. We take show stuff serious, because we’re involved in shows too, and we get all of our own supplies right here in the store, because we like to win, or at least make a dang good showing. We have the absolute finest show feeds available, along with every kind of item you can imagine for beauty and hygiene, not to mention knowledgeable folks right here to can help you save a nickel when you come in to get your armload of stuff. And as this July moves forward, we’ll be right in sync with your demand as you start to figure out what your next move is going to be and how your project will pan out through development on up to show day.
★Yall might want to have a look at this wonderful clipper video we have right here handy for you. These Andis Pulse ZR II clippers are actually veterinary grade, the finest design available for accurate trimming and grooming, and all the added reliability and safety that comes with the best mechanism and attention to detail that defines this clipper kit as the very one you’ll want to trust with your project.
★The ANDIS ZR II Trimmer
And we have a special item that we’d like to alert you to that will help to give you a competitive edge in Show grooming, it’s the Andis Pulse ZR II. The precision of this incredible trimmer has to be seen to be believed. You can trim close in around tender parts with great accuracy and low risk of causing any of those minor nicks and cuts that have to be nursed to try to get back into good shape before Show time.
The Andis Pulse ZR II has a five-speed, rotary motor that adjusts from 2500 to 4500 cutting strokes per minute, a quick release, detachable blade for multiple cut lengths, and a handsome hard case that can take plenty of punishment as it keeps your trimmer kit in like new condition from your place, to the truck, to the parking lot, and to the Show barn. Drop by and have a look, you’re dollar is well spent on this trimmer kit, and will get you a little closer a little quicker to that blue ribbon finish.
★As things start to get hotter, your puppy dogs are going to be putting away a whole heck of a lot more water after going on about their business all through the day, and might just be apt to run out before you remember to go out and fill the bowl. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was some way to always have a full water bowl during the toughest time of the year for your top cow dogs without having to leave the faucet dripping, or have them go without without you realizing it? Well, we’ve got an absolutely wonderful solution. Have a look at our automatic dog waterers.
★We’ve got one model for large dogs and one model for small, they always stay full, and they can drink to their hearts content, staying refreshed and bright eyed all the way to suppertime! These dog waterers really do work, and are worth the nominal investment to give you peace of mind and your dogs the relief they need all through the day here in South Texas July. And speaking of suppertime, we’ve got a nice new line of Victor brand dog foods with formulations that are great for nearly any dog you’ve got. We can vouch for these, as the reports have been very good with our folks and folks that have come in the store to repurchase this fine nutrition. We’ve also got a wonderful variety of pet shampoos for nearly any kind of animal short of a grizzly bear, all the combs, brushes, and accessories to get all of that excess coat out of the way so your best friend won’t have so much to worry about when it comes to that hot weather that we’re sure to have this month.
★But what about your livestock? Talk about big volumes of water, they’ll drink and drink and drink until they nearly bust, if they’re allowed to, and that’s good! But what happens if those nice water troughs that you got a little while back run dry because the floats have gone bad? Now this is something that can’t wait, unless you want to walk around in the hot weather dragging a hose, filling water troughs by hand. Believe me, we’vee done it before, and boy does it get old. We’ve got a great supply of Miller Little Giant floats ready to go during the big demand time to assure that your horses cattle have plenty to drink right when they need it, and if they need a little encouragement to stay hydrated, we’ve ordered up a bunch more Salt and mineral blocks they’ll sure like.
★Even if your lawn and garden are struggling some with way too much sun, the algae in your stock tanks is probably going to have a field day, just like it did last year. And I don’t need to tell you that livestock doesn’t care very much for algae flavored refreshment. We sure have had good luck though with AquaBan algicide for your tank in your fishpond both. This is an all natural, livestock safe treatment that works like gangbusters, and if it’s safe for critters like goldfish, sure enough it’ll be safe for your horses and cattle. Color matters too, believe it or not, confusing the little algae plants into thinking they better stay dormant till the sun comes out better. Ask us about AquaBan pond and tank dye, also all natural, pet, wildlife, and livestock safe, making a complete solution for your large-scale water supply.

★And did we mention that it’s not just the pets in the cattle that are getting thirsty and wanting a little refreshment and a cool place to wait out the hot part of the day? Never fails. Once in a while I’ll come up to the back porch and head to the door and look down, and sure enough they’ll be a scorpion or two just sitting there waiting for the door to open so they can scoot in to cause all kinds of trouble.
★My go-to for just such unwanted guests is Demon WP, the hands down best blue ribbon prize-winning cure for scorpions. And the red ants are sure going to get busy in July, too, rain or no rain. Hey, why the heck would you want to build an ant mound when you can just cause trouble in somebody’s house that’s already built? Well, we’ve got the house specialty, Martin’s Surrender, and we keep it well stocked right here so when you come in you can throw this in with your Demon WP and all the other goodies we hope you’ll have on your list to make this July the best you’ve ever had, despite the heat.
★We hope that, in spite of the hot weather that’s going to get going in earnest, and everything that always seems to come with it, that yall will have a good Fourth of July, and say little thank you prayer that even if the rest of the world is acting kind peculiar and funny, we’re lucky to be down here in Texas where we never forgot our blessings, and how good it is to live in a land that is still free. Let’s get through July and the first part of August and next thing you know the breeze is going to change, and sure enough we’ll be through another hot summer.
