★Is there ever a time when we don’t have a hot summer, and get delayed doing hardware and Ag projects? This summer has been no different, but this month will be no different than the rest either, hot humid days giving way to cooler, dryer sunshine, lower humidity, and so forth. That means we’ve got an interval before the cold damp weather, every opportunity to tackle those projects you’ve been itching to do. All of us down here at Somerset, whether you’ve got a big place or 3 1/2 big acres generally have a fencing item or two to address, not to mention getting the house squared away for all that drafty cold we’re about to have.

Come and see us first instead of driving way into San Antonio for pretty much everything you might need to fix the fence, straighten up containment for the animals and get the house ready for a great Fall headed into Thanksgiving. ★If you’re a Fall gardener, like a lot of us, you might be buying one item here and another item there and shopping over yonder and finishing up someplace else getting things. But who wants to burn the gas chasing around all over Creation when we’ve got just about everything you need right here to get that garden going and productive? We’ve got seasonal seed potatoes, seed onions, Fall starter plants from Bonnie, and non GMO Willheit bulk vegetable seed by the half ounce or ounce or more, lettuce, cabbage, beets, Swiss chard, collard greens, Fall squash. And of course we’re plenty stocked up on first quality potting soils, and 10-20-10 fertilizer to go with it all, so let’s get growin’!

Here at the beginning of September, the pastures are getting pretty dry, so it’s time to supplement your horses and cattle with the best protein enriched Wendland’s feeds and range cubes. And to replace that dried up pasture, we’ve got plenty of seed oats and ryegrass to bring new life into your prized acreage, along with fertilizer keyed to this part of the world, the stuff we use ourselves at home, just ask!

★And while you’re at it, you got to a little prep work here getting going towards deer season, getting those deer plots together. Fall mix for the hunters is here for planting deer plots, and in-quantity Wendland’s 16% and 20% deer protein, and of course, as we get down the road a little ways, first class corn from Reus Grain out at Hondo, we’ve got it today.
